CV Axle Replacement

Clicking when you turn is a torn CV boot or worn joint. We replace the axle on site.

A clicking or popping noise when turning, especially under power, is a worn constant-velocity joint. Usually the boot tore, the grease escaped, and the joint wore dry. We replace the complete axle shaft — cheaper and more reliable than re-booting — and torque the axle nut properly.

Signs you need cv axle replacement

  • Clicking or popping when turning
  • Grease slung on the inside of the wheel
  • Vibration under acceleration
  • Clunk when shifting into gear
  • Torn rubber boot visible behind the wheel

What we do on site

  1. Confirm which axle by road test and inspection
  2. Remove the wheel, brake, and axle nut
  3. Separate the lower ball joint or strut and pull the axle
  4. Install the new axle with a new seal if needed
  5. Torque the axle nut, refill transmission fluid if any was lost, road-test

Pricing: Moderate; the axle part is the main cost. Every job is quoted in writing before we start, and there's no upsell — how our pricing works.

FAQ

CV Axle Replacement: common questions

Can I just replace the boot?
If you catch it before the joint is damaged, yes, but by the time it clicks the joint is worn. A complete axle is usually the same price as boot labor and lasts longer.
